Dear previous and potential Participants in the VFX Omelette, 3D/VFX talents, Studios
Digital Storytelling 2012 is in the planning stage and we would like to invite you to submit a proposal for the Scandinavian VFX Omelette. The VFX Omelette is a very popular post on the seminar program and has grown over the past years to the pont that this year we would like to improve on how we plan the presentations.
At Digital Storytelling 2012 we will be looking at important points in VFX history and gaze into future of visual effects in film, tv and games. We encourage you to propose a project or case that is current and of interest to both the VFX crowd as well as the less technically savvy. We are looking for presentations that are visual, innovative and connect to the core of Digital Storytelling - compelling storytelling with visual effects. Please note that we will not accept studio/portofolio presentations.
If you work in a studio that would like to present several projects or have several people who are interested in presenting, we ask that you co-ordinate the submission of the presentation proposals, but that each person submit his/her presentation proposal individually.
Format: presentation in Keynote or Powerpoint or as a series of still images/film presented by one person in either Norwegian or English.
Resolution: HD (1280x720 or 1920x1080)
Time: max 7 minutes. If you think it is necessary to have more time for your presentation you can request more time (up to 12 minutes total).
February 13: deadline for submitting your VFX Omelette presentation proposal by email to DS (kim at digistorytelling dot com)
March 1: acceptance of VFX Omelette presentations from Digital Storytelling.
March 23: deadline for delivery of info on your VFX Omelette presentation to DS for the printed program and the web
May 11: delivery of your final presentation to DS on USB/DropBox for technical test in the theatre
May 14 (final date for seminar day is TBD): Digital Storytelling Seminar
For your VFX omelette proposal (February 13) we ask that you describe your proposal for presentation with a single, captivating sentence or two and that you enclose an equally captivating image/sketch that sell your proposal. Also include the name and title of the person who is presenting and which studio she/he is representing.
When your proposal has been accepted you have aprox 3 weeks to gather visual material (still images) and write up a paragraph describing what your presentation will be about as well as provide us with your bio, photo and a short quote about your work, your VFX philosophy or what you think of Digital Storytelling. This info we will needed by March 23.
Then you will have another 1,5 months to actually produce your short VFX Omelette presentation for delivery a few days short of the actual event itself.
We hope that this workflow will make it easier for you to organize your time as well as allow us to get the best of the best projects for this years VFX Omelette.
If you have questions please contact kim at digistorytelling dot com
Looking forward to receiving your proposals.
